Taking the Grasping Ring as a starting gift and defeating the Unspeakable Deep will give you a boost in levels early on. Start by pumping your strength and willpower as much as you can, making sure you grab Swordfighter rank 2 along the way. You know have IMO the Amrouur of Artorais and the Greastword of Arotrias. Continue onwards to Crypt of Dead Gods until you reach the Forgotten King boss fight, and kill the Forgotten Knight. Good luck with him.Play through the game using greastwords and heavy armour, I used Shrouded Bulwark and Doppelsöldner Set until you reach Salt Alkymancery, where you pick up the Tainted Set by killing a Mimric. He's noted by many to be kind of the "gateway boss" of the game, as in being the first genuine challenge. The dragon is challenging, but fair, and is a very fun bossfight. The leech ring doesn't really leech enough to be that worthwhile IMO, so wear something giving you more damage instead. The dragon is weak towards poison and lightning damage. The trick is: most of those attacks hit LOW, meaning you can jump in the air when he winds up a claw swipe or a tail lash and just hit him a few times, since his recovery is very, very slow. The fire is, in fact, not where the wurm kills me the most - his melee attacks are both fairly damaging and it can be hard to predict which one is coming when he stops moving for a second. This is almost always the side the wurm will fly in from, so just run towards it and it'll miss you 100%. The fire breathing run is fairly easy to avoid - when the wurm takes off for a bombing run, the screen will pan towards one of the sides. The Crackhead Worm is my favourite boss - mainly because he has some very easily definable patterns to his huge attacks. Turtling behind one of the 100% fire resist shields just makes it a bit easier until you learn his fire breathing patterns. Nope, you can beat it armourless if you like. HOW DO I FIGHT THIS THING? Is that phoenix shield an actual requirment to beat it? It doesn't help that for some reason, fire damage lowers my maximum health, so by time he's on half health I can't be above half health. When he lands, he's either actually outside of the boss arena or he immediately goes back to flying. It can also start its flame run in the middle of the arena, trapping me on one side. When he takes to the air to start its fire breathing run, it goes completely off camera so I can't tell which direction its going to go. If I get hit by one of those attacks, the chances are I get stunlocked into the next one and go from full health to no health in about 10 seconds. Its attacks while it is on the ground come out of completely nowhere, and are nigh undodgeable. I don't know if I picked the wrong build to play this game or what, but that bloody dragon is about to have me breaking things. I have 7 healing potions max and am using blessed pages for extra damage.I am also wearing the ring that makes you immune to fire damage, the one that increases roll speed, and the one that increases endurance. I am using the dopelsdonr (I think that's how you spell it) armor, all upgraded to III and a soldiers poleaxe upgraded to III as well. First off, my build as based around heavy armor and polearms/halberds. I can't beat this dragon in the slightest. Okay, this boss has put me to my last straw.
